A Soon Someday

Waiting on the sunset for a sunrise
Over a mountain where the colors change
Let the wind carry off the petals high
To a different land, but not a chase
That we can breathe and see the sky
Not longing for another try
But standing still in the better now
May the sounds and words bring peace
And the light not remind of then
But a true and last relief
May the future come sooner than we know
And the silence not scream loud
Let night not bring loneliness
But Heaven through a breaking cloud
When we take our thoughts and cries
And leave them all behind
To live not just tomorrow, but today
And smile freely on a soon someday
