Searching

Searching

A Poem by Jake Staffeld

As it falls apart

A red sun rises

Trudge the darkened ground

Never stop searching

Even if you've given up looking

For that one thing

That makes it move

The yellow moon

Hangs over the rivers red

And the city of metal and smoke

Is feeling natures wrath

As you drag along

To yet another place

Full of treasure

Maybe it's been found

So long ago

Picked up

Taken out

But still you journey

Cause who knows where it is now

So look and find

Nothing and everything together

Those strange bedfellows

Twisted up into life and liberty

And all that we want

Death and depotism

And all we hate, too

Does the world ends

In your eyes?

Or does it recreate?

Ecstasy or depression

It all changes

When you find something

No matter what that is.

The poem is powerful. Open the door to many questions.

I like the strong statements in the poem. I believe need to stay positive. Can't allow the family and world to know you have given up. Ecstasy and depression. The boundaries we dance on daily. Thank you for the excellent poem.
