Lost causes

Lost causes

A Poem by Jake Staffeld
"

I think this is my favorite poem I've ever written.

"
Those that stand
All alone in a pouring rain
Struggling for a brighter day
Slowly dying on the inside
But unable to let it go
Fighting for a lost cause
That makes sense for them

Tempted by so many things
And everyone breaks down sometimes
They all lose their fates so quickly
When they get left by the side
Not a single care left
And choirs sing out the pain
Of a mind so downcast

Calling on saints
That aren't real
A feeling of hatred
Without a reason
Perhaps it comes
From fighting for
All the lost causes

So watch the fall
As memories sing out
Fires burn all around
And when they hit the ground
They are still alone
And still a lost cause

As it all goes away
The rain dries and the sun dies
Live in the dark
It's all been taken
By those who they thought loved them
And broken hearts trudges on
Through an endless wasteland
Struggling against the facts
Refusing to accept
That they are lost causes

Hard to grasp you are a lost cause. Sometime a little hope can re-birth anger and desire and have you ready for another fight. I like the way you described the motion of this poem.

Thank you for a outstanding poem. Your point was made.
