The Fire InsideA Poem by Jake Staffeld
Swirling
Waves The blackness fades As I draw near Closer to you And you retreat farther away Tunnels never end Your hurt Without wounds Nothing's been done to you That you didn't start I've been hurt By you alone But don't run I need this now Not sure if I want Revenge or consolation Peace or decimation When you hit the corner And find only a wall What will you do? As I chase you Grab your wrist What happens now Is down to you I have no control Over you But I react anyways Do I hurt you? Does it feel good? Is it scaring you Or giving you relief? I might not be Secure But I'm still here You've faded I can still feel you Like a spark Burning away at my Insides Consuming my logic Giving voice to animal passions The blackness grows As you run away But I'm still right behind Watching as these feelings Wave and Swirl
