April in my Backyard

April in my Backyard

A Poem by Alice Bliss

Spring wind gusts,
branches bob as if nodding,
buds cling tightly,
birds stay silent and unseen.

Dark clouds dapple the sky,
dancing toward the horizon.

Butterfly chimes tinkle,
then jingle,
then clang ferociously.

Fresh-mown grass and rain cling to my skin-
infuse me with their scent.

A ginger tomcat drinks from a murky puddle.

I love the imagery you painted in this piece. It was very easy to picture it, I was right there...
