The World Drops DeadA Poem by PhoenixI shut my eyes and the world drops dead.
I open them and it breathes again.
I colored the sky with gold and red.
Dreams of bewitching into bed.
With songs of moons and oceans and forever again.
But you only live inside my head.
I shut my eyes and the world drops dead.
I open them and its heart beats again.
"If only, if only," she still said.
A heart grows hungry when left unfed.
Bleeding its tears once and again.
But you only live inside my head.
I shut my eyes and the world drops dead.
I open them and it screams again.
I reached out as you turned and fled.
I took your hand as you led.
I searched for your eyes again and again.
But you only live inside my head.
I shut my eyes and the world drops dead.
I cover them to never feel it again.
I shielded my wounds as I bled.
I shut my eyes and the world drops dead.
I still see it over and over again.
But you only live inside my head.
