~Go Away~

~Go Away~

A Poem by Phoenix

Those minutes, those hours, those days...
You try to escape...but there isn't a way.

You feel it spreading way down deep,
Burning and searing as you try to sleep.

Clouding your head throughout the day,
Though you beg it  go away...go away...

Your body is screaming, it's under attack -
But there's nowhere to go, you have to hold back.

You're a prisoner, trapped in your skin,
Turning to iron, holding it in...

It eats you up, consumes your mind,
And reality becomes impossible to find.

Your heart beats faster, pulsing through every vein,
Always choked down...it becomes increasing pain.

Still more pressure and no release -
Just let the monster consume its feast...

Must this be the price to pay?
Will it ever just...go away?

No, face it....your body is hard-wired,
There's no way to escape that word: Desire.

I just realized this is kind of ironic after my last writing...

This poem is kind of ironic, period! The rhyme's are a bit strained and the lines drawn out, but I loved the topic.

Intense....feel the pressure building. Desire is part of the human condition, my friend. Though it does tend to mellow with age. lol Very well penned.

I have so many ideas and feelings, and they usually buzz around inside me wildly. When I can gather up enough of them, then a piece of writing emerges and I feel refreshed. more..
