Ode to the Cay

On the Cay.

A little island

far away.

Not on

maps

not on

charts.

No ships could

save you,

no planes

flew over.

So you're just

there

all alone,

with the

sandy beaches

and the

coconut trees.

The clawless Langosta,

the hard-to-reach coconuts,

and fish.

That's what's there,

that's where you are.

On the Cay.

* * * *

Ten Little Turkeys

Ten little turkeys were having a great time,
One lost his feathers and now there are nine.

Nine little turkeys looked like bait,
One got eaten and now there are eight.

Eight little turkeys whose names were Deven,
One thought he could fly and now there are seven.

Seven little turkeys liked to play tricks,
One got caught and now there are six.

Six little turkeys liked to dive,
One couldn't swim and now there are five.

Five little turkeys liked eating more,
One went to Thanksgiving and now there are four.

Four little turkeys were climbing trees,
One missed a branch and now there are three.

Three little turkeys were wearing shoes,
One got stepped on and now there are two.

Two little turkeys in the sun,
One forgot sunscreen and now there is one.

One little turkey left in the sun,
He dropped dead and now there are none.

* * * *

A Windy Day (??)

The wind is howling
and so is my dog.
He's sitting on a log
playing with a frog.
And I'm sitting on my chair
Way up in the air.

Author's Note

Phoenix
The first two are from English in 6th grade. Does anyone remember reading The Cay in middle school?
I dont remember what the second one was for or why I was killing off turkeys...and the third one is actually from 5th grade and came with a horribly drawn picture. Hopefully my rhyming has improved since then :)

I, personally, think that your powers of pen have greatly improved. But your topics have not. =P

I never read The Cay, but am guessing from the poem it is about someone marooned on a desert island.

The second one had me really chuckling. Brought back memories from when I was young and we used to make up silly jingles. Your rhyme and me meter are actually very good in it too. You are definitely a natural.

The last one is really cute too. Thanks for sharing all of them with us. They are delightful to read.

Haha I loved the last one! It was just so cute. :D
I never read The Cay so I'm not too sure what the first one is about but it was nicely put.
The second one is clever and funny. Those poor turkeys!

Thanks for the read, it put a smile on my face :)
