Don't Leave Me Alone

Don't Leave Me Alone

A Poem by Phoenix

Don't leave me alone

  Please     please

Don't leave me alone...

My mind works too well

When I'm alone.

I figure out the world

I figure out myself...

I feel too much -

Of what I want

Of what I need

Of what I'm without...

Please

Don't leave me alone

I see too much -

Don't let me see

Don't let me think

Don't let me understand.

Don't leave me alone...

To see the beginning

To see the future -

To see the end...

That's what I find

When I'm alone.

Don't leave me alone, please...

Please

Don't give me that chance

Of admitting what's right

When what's right is so different

From what I want...

...Please...

Don't leave me alone...

Ever

Because this is what happens

When I'm alone.

Author's Note

Phoenix
This happens to me far too often, but this poem is referring to the most recent and worst of them all....
But, in the end, this poem is just me feeling sorry for myself. I would never really beg not to be left alone so I wouldn't have to think, would never choose ignorance over understanding, and would never ignore what's right just to get what I want. Still, doesn't mean I'm always happy about it...

Solitude is having only yourself for company, Loneliness is not even having yourself. And I challenge the notion that introspection produces understanding over ignorance. It may be true that a even a blind dog finds a bone every once in awhile, and there for that thinking without direction may lead to SOME great thoughts, it hardly leads to true understanding. The above argument is as much a fight within myself as a rebuttal to the poem.

An interesting write as you have written the fears many have about being alone. The short stanzas really accentuate the pleading and desperation to just be in the moment....not have to think, or feel, just to be...but not alone. Well done!

I understand how you feel.
When I'm alone I sit and I think & think until I drive myself nearly insane.
This is a great write.

I have so many ideas and feelings, and they usually buzz around inside me wildly. When I can gather up enough of them, then a piece of writing emerges and I feel refreshed. more..
