The Hill

The Hill

A Poem by Phoenix
"

Thoughts coming to the surface.

"

There was a Hill

And up it I ran

To hear the Sunlight spill

Across its green span.

There was no trail

Nor ever a sign

To keep me from Fail,

That crowded land of the mind.

And a Fire kept me going,

Something I could feel,

With no one ever knowing

That it was ever real.

Reality hit my mind

As Time came around,

And the Hill I climbed

Fell away as a cloud.

It was dark, that fall

And I could not See,

But I heard your call

Coming to help me.

I looked in your Eye

And saw the top of the Hill,

But a blink and a sigh

Showed you hadn't made sunlight spill.

Now I walk forward

Right through the shade,

Not upward or downward,

Just too fast to fade.

Phoenix
This feels a lot like "A Thirsty Heart" and "Those Eyes..." I think I'll have a part 2 eventually.

So interesting, this battle against time. It's actually a bit comical how you turned beautiful things such as fire, hills, time and clouds into such fear inducing symbols. Comical, yet perfect.

Sometimes it is right that we should take a walk up hill or down. And sometimes it is good to take someone along with us. Lovely words.
