I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by Phoenix
"

Thinking back to old feelings and they astound me

"
My heart, in pain
Reaches back to you

My spirit, when lame
Glares back at you

You're an old battle scar
A break that healed wrong
Cold days make it sore
Even looking back from this far

Let's get this out
Let's let this go
Let me write, let me shout
Let me face the doubt

I remember a night
I looked myself in the face
I held my head in my hands
And knew it wasn't right

I was burning, burning
It wouldn't stop
Don't hurt me please
My spirit weakened, unfurling

Great damage was done
Reverberating to this day
I didn't want to let it happen
I was so young

The memories are thundering
I'm scorched and scabbed
I hold my old wounds
I'm bitter and cowering

Author's Note

Phoenix
I made the mistake (?) of reading all my old poems. Some were cringeworthy, some were awe-inspiring, some filled me with terrible sadness. This is me clutching an old battle wound.

About
I have so many ideas and feelings, and they usually buzz around inside me wildly. When I can gather up enough of them, then a piece of writing emerges and I feel refreshed. more..
