Animal

Animal

A Poem by Jaffa Forbes

Before you I'm opened up,
Opened out, laid bare as
lights dim, the film
rolls, pictures move in
faltering fragments through
moment to moment, each
scene a tortured soul.
You've unleased the animal
that was tamed in the day,
scared of the sun,
when it tried to behave.

Before you I'm little less
than someone else,
Before you I hide my face,
and run away.
