Overheard an Argument

Overheard an Argument

A Story by Jaeda
"

Between my dad and my stepmom. Over my stepmom's work schedule.

"
"The next time this happens, they'll do it again. You've got to say 'NO', don't ask. Just tell them how it is."
"I can fix it."
"No, you can't. And it's affecting my life... -With my sweetheart!"
"Just let me handle it."
"Do you want me, or don't you want me at all?"
A mumble, I think it was "I do".
"Well then why don't you let me go handle it?"
Softly, "Noooo..."

They keep arguing, and Dad thinks he's won. Truth is, for a very intelligent man, he's an idiot. You can't just say "NO" to your boss, or she'll be along a lot longer than you expected. Too big a pause between the "my life" and "with my sweetheart," too.

About
I'm a pretty depressing writer, if I'm to be honest. But I do love comments from anyone willing to read my poems, and I do try to review any commentator's works, too. I don't figure my background is t.. more..
