An emotional quagmire for the father. He hands your baton to another man. May he gain a son, not loose a daughter. Acknowledgement of change becomes a survival tool. I like the simplicity.

I like the idea here. It's almost reminiscent of a dream. Suddenly, you're dancing with your father, but you're not sure why, then suddenly again, you're thrust into your new reality. In the last line, I would break it up with a comma or period or something: "Congratulations; you're now a wife," etc. And I put "you're" instead of "you are" on purpose there, because I feel like it's JUST enough of a change to give off the abrupt push you really need to conclude the poem and leave the reader with the feeling you're trying to demonstrate. This floats. I can't really describe what that means, but it's a good thing. lol. I think you have major potential. And--random--I feel like we will be friends.
