Miss Popularity

Miss Popularity

A Poem by SuicidePact.

I’m the leader of the pack

The wearer of the skirt

Girl who fear me

Girls who want to be me.

I have admirers from a far,

I don’t even know who they are.

They’ll never find the courage,

To tell me that they love me,

They wish they were above me.

People say I’m a dream,

I’m the leader of the school team.

But nobody takes the time,

Don’t want to know what’s on my mind.

Is it worth being the on top?

Worth having no real friends?

I don’t want the perfect picture,

Just want you to see me for who I am.

Is there anybody out there?

Anyone willing to be my friend?

I have nerver been near the top, but i can really see the point in this. there are a lot of people who pretend to be your friend only because your popular and never take the time to get to know the real you. A lot of people envy and to be honest i have never seen the reason as to rate anyone in life for what they look like or their status in life. it is a persons personality that shapes them, and it should be based by a person themselves. I never will understand popularity or power. I find it very crippling.

I like the way you kept the body of the poem slim, like a cheerleader's figure. I also like how you go from describing the perfect life from a stuck up attitude to a desperate call to anyone for reality. Well written, SP (:

There are, indeed, drawbacks to being a very limited symbol.
Good ending!

A beautiful write ..everything flowed in your words..emotions, structure, placement. A wake up call to all who are shallow and many are..thank goodness it's not you..

This is so true.I am blessed with good friends now,but before a new girl joined our school(thats you, cookiecrumbles) when I was in P7,I had a terrible friend. She pushed me about and called me a dumb blonde. She is thankfully a year above me,so I rarely see her.God bless my best friends,Leah and Marissa who have laughed me out of hard times.

It's a good statement of the ego trip of some popular people. The second line is a little confusing. You might try 'Girls who envy me'. And the fourth line, last word, might be 'afar'. I like your commentary on social relationships. And, true friends are indeed hard to find. Good job.
