War Paint.

War Paint.

A Poem by SuicidePact.
"

Iv'e been writing songs lately, but I'm not too sure about them. Let me know what you think??

"

War Paint

They tell stories like a tattoo,

Reminders of a time I didn’t have you.

The strength I hope inside,

The scars I used to hide,

They’re my battle scars,

Like war paint.

I used to think it was weakness,

Falling down to the ground,

Sobbing was the sound.

I didn’t know it could change.

Maybe I was too afraid.

The lines over my arms,

Myself I used to harm,

There’s nothing poetic in the act,

Any who say different,

They just don’t know the facts.

I’ve got a war inside,

I’ve got sleeves to hide,

But I know I don’t have to,

They’re no different to a tattoo.

They’re reminders of a time,

When I didn’t cross the line.

You mightn’t understand,

But it’s all I feel inside,

There’s no reason for me to hide.

There is no point living a lie.

There’s no reason to play the blame game,

It’s my war paint that keeps me sane.

Its true our battle scares are worn on our sleeves for everyone to see. Thank God they are life lessons that we take and learn from and with each battle we become a better person. Thank you for sharing your poem with me.

Some scars which originated from the war fought inside remain hidden like tattoo althrough the life. I love the passion, vision and aspiration depicted in this creation.

I like this it brings to mind thoughts of when I was younger struggling to keep from falling apart...but it also brings to mind how even one person just giving you the time of day can help you keep yourself together and help you learn to accept the scars of the past...Very well written and in my top ten favourite writings of all time keep up the great writing :)

This is a wonderful piece of writing, I can relate entirely. "They're no different to a tattoo" really makes me think of comments i used to receive from people that approved of ink, but not my scars.

beautifully written.
great write !

I agree with Zeitgeist Manifesto. This should be a song, and thank you for mentioning that it isn't poetic. So many people think it's just cool or it's part of looking like scene, emo, gothic etc. it's good to see you don't praise it. ^.^ and never be ashamed of scars and struggles, they build you up. It's ripping yourself apart that ruins things.

Bold words that would be a great compliment to a sweet guitar riff.

That was very well written and your feelings are described in a very hard and touching way. I liked the titlte which was very attractive . well done

I enjoyed reading your poem. Scars are not something that we should hide, psychological or physical, scars really are no different than tattoos. I think you can improve by emphasizing this message even more in your writing.
Either way, I am glad to have read your work
