Chapter 4-TMAA Chapter by JaeChapter 4: Liam Payne
Anger was flooding through my veins. My mouth tasted like metallic, like
blood. “Get away from her.” I growled. The man smirked. “Nah, this one’s a
keeper.” Marie whimpered, as he slid his hand down her sides and gripped her
hips. I clenched my jaw and stared at him. “Liam…” Flashbacks swarmed through
my mind, until it settled on the first time I met her. “Hi.”
I slipped on my clothing for the day, grabbed my
phone, and then retreated downstairs. Dad was sitting at the counter, flipping
through the newspaper. “Morning.” He grumbled. I nodded back, and got myself a
bowl of cereal. “I’m taking you to school and then going back to bed. I have to
go to Aunt Jakie’s house. She’s not feeling well.” I touched his shoulder in
comforting way. Dad and Aunt Jakie have always been close. They were like, best
friends, and also, siblings. Whenever Jakie needed something, Dad was always
there. I finished eating my Coco Puffs, and set it in the sink.
“Thanks for the ride.” I stepped out of the car,
and swung my backpack over my shoulder. I began walking towards the school,
until I felt something hit the side of my head. It was freezing cold. I could
feel the anger start to formulate in the pit of my stomach. I balled my fists
up and turned to the victim. He looked to be a year younger, and also
freighted. Good. I noticed that
everyone around me had stopped what they were doing. They were weary of my next
actions. I heard a car door slam, and a sweet voice say, ‘I love you Mom.’ My
mind processed the voice, and it soon came to the exact one from yesterday.
Marie. A smile began to tug at the ends of my lips. “It’s alright bud, just be
cautions of the others around you.” I said. The kid nodded and went back to
playing. I turned around, almost bumping into person I wanted to see. “Hi.” I
said. A light tint of red appeared on her cheeks. “Can I walk you to class?” I
asked softly. She demurred a nod.
“So, what’s your favorite color?” I asked, while
opening the door. “B-Blue.” She said shakily. “Great color. Mine’s green.” She
looked over at me, green emeralds wide, with that same tint of red engulfing
her cheeks. A comfortable silence over took us as we made it to Mr. Browns’
classroom. “Alright, we’re here.” I smiled at her, and ushered her to go in. A
few people were watching us, and giving me ‘the look’. I just shrugged it off.
“Y-you’re so pa-pa-thetic.” I frowned, wondering
what was going on. I set my books in my locker and shut it. Around the corner,
there was girl. She was beautiful. She had smooth skin, gorgeous red hair, and
big blue eyes. “You’ll never amount to anything. Especially with that stutter.“
I couldn’t quite see the person she was talking to, until I stepped fully out
into view. My eyes widened. I could feel the anger start to boil in my stomach
again. “You don’t deserve to talk to Li- Liam!” She shrieked. My eyes narrowed.
She skipped over to me, and clenched onto my arm. I shifted my gaze down to
Marie, who was shaking and crying lightly on the floor. My fists balled up. I
ripped my arm away from her. “Go
away.” I snapped. She looked hurt, but substituted it with a laugh. “Oh, you’re
so funny.” My breath caught in my throat. “I said, go the F**K AWAY!” She
jumped back, and ran away. My breathing was still heavy, as I knelt down beside
Marie. “Come here.” I opened my arms. She lifted her head out of her hands and
turned to me. I watched her intently as she
slowly shuffled towards me. She cried softly on my shoulder. “Don’t worry babe.
They won’t bother you ever again.” I meant every word I had said.
We were the first to class, since we left before the bell even rang. Ms. Jones’ was there, grading projects some students did for extra credit. “Oh, hey guys. Today is going to be a bit different. I’m going to be saying random words, and everybody’s going to draw what they see in their mind. Easy enough right?” We took our seats and got everything out. I sat in my regular seat, giving Marie a little space. The bell rang finally, and a flood of students came in. Ms. Jones explained what today’s objectives were and we got to work. During the middle of the period, I heard a chair slide across the floor. I was too focused on my paper to see who it was. I figured it out when the scent of cherries swarmed the air. I smiled and just kept working on my homework. :) So Cuteee © 2014 Jae |
