Chapter Two: Liam Payne

Geez, why did it take her so long to answer such simple f*****g question? She had made both of us late, and I mean come on, it’s my first day! What a s**t. Turns out Geometry isn’t the only class we have together. Tapping my pencil in the back against my desk in the Art room, I watched Marie working intently on the week assignment already. We had just gotten it 3 minutes ago and she was basically already done. What’s this crud? I do mine last minute, and it’s always a masterpiece. “Alright class see you tomorrow.” Mrs. Cody said. I grabbed my backpack, and stood next to Marie’s desk. “Wow, you’re really good.” I said. She looked up with her big green eyes, and her lips were slightly parted. “What’s it mean? Like, what do you see?” She pressed her lips together and snatched the paper away. She gave me a look, then began moving away from me slowly. I gave her a wicked smirk and a dark chuckle erupted from my throat. “See you later, Marie.” Her eyes widened in fear and I just shook my head.

I zipped up my jacket and went out into the cold. God damn. It had to have snowed while I was in school. Looks about a foot higher than it was. I walked down the steps slowly, avoiding any spots that looked dangerous. I stopped for a moment, thinking about which way I had come from to get here. This sucks, not knowing where your home is. I began walking, hoping I was going in the right direction, until I heard a shrill from the street. “Liam!” It was my Mum. “Mum?” I furrowed my eyes, but still jogged over. “Boy, it’s obvious you were going to be confused, just get in the car.” I hopped into the SUV and we were off.

Just as we were pulling up, Dad came out and waved. I nodded my head and smiled lightly. “Hey, how was it?” He questioned, referring to school. “Really good. Everybody was scared of me like always and I don’t know why.” He gave me a crooked smile and shrugged. “They just aren’t used to you.” I laughed dryly, “Used to me? Really? Dad, nobody, will ever get used to me. Don’t use that word so freely.” Everything he says is such word vomit, I’m so sick of it. He went to go pat my back and I jerked away, running up to the door and slamming everything that was in my way. Once I got to my room I felt better, I liked being trapped. Or at least feeling trapped. Maybe I was better off. I began unpacking the 20 boxers that were piled in the corner of my room.

I finally managed to get all my clothes in the dresser and hung up the many hoodies, and sweaters I had. Apparently we were going out for pizza and I hadn’t known about that until literally a second ago. “Mum, I’m ready.” I said while passing her room and going downstairs. My dad was sitting on the couch watching TV, but got up and shut it off once he saw me. I smiled, “Mum’s changing into something more comfortable, and then we’ll be ready.” Dad shook his head, “I swear she’s the reason we have to do laundry every other day.” I stifled a laugh. “Okay, let’s go.” She glanced at Dad and then at me. “Liam go put a heavier jacket on.” I shrugged. “I’m fine, Mum.” She glared at me. “Whatever, but if you get sick, you’re still going to school.” I held my hands up in surrender. “Alright. Calm ya self.” I joked. She shook her head and walked out the door that Dad was holding open for us. “Thanks.” I said.

We found a pizzeria just four blocks from the school. Dad opened the door and it made a ding noise, making everybody glance our way. They all gave us a once over since we were new. I smiled softly at them but they didn’t exchange it. Well then you little s***s. “You can find somewhere to sit while your father and I order. Yeah?” I nodded my head and squeezed myself past them. I found a nice booth in the middle of the restaurant. I brought out my phone, checking for any messages, but there was nothing. I sighed and set my phone down on the table. My eyes shifted over everybody in the place. They stopped on a similar face, Marie. I leaned back and smiled at her. She was talking to what seemed to be a young boy, probably her brother. She started laughing. I could hear her laugh over all the chit-chat going on. It was a melodic sound. Her gaze finally landed on me and she stopped. She became nervous. How do I know? A: She was fiddling with her hands. B: Stuttering. C: Would not make eye contact. I smiled and moved my eyes from her to the vice beside me, which was my mother. “I got a medium peperoni pizza for you and your father. Then I got myself a nice Chicken Salad.” I quickly dug into the pizza. “Mm.” I licked my lips and stole another glance at Marie. She was staring right at me, until she saw me. I chuckled lightly earning suspicious stares from my parents. “You alright?” I nodded. “Never better.” I pulled on a smile and continued eating.
