Remembering 1972A Poem by Jadon96Even though I was only born in 1996, I thought it would be neat to create a poem about a generation before me. So, this is what I came up with. What has happened to the day? I remember the past, back, back a long way.
Yeah, I remember the past, it was a good ole
place.
Can't remember any names, but know everyone by
the face. I remember the memories of being a teen Every kid was on the street, partying it up like
Queen.
It was a sunny afternoon in the summer of 1972 I shot my first ‘coon while momma was watching
the reruns of Doctor Who. Daddy always said he was proud of me,
but I look back now and all I see is myself as
greedy.
I met a girl when I was fifteen; she was short and
was sixteen. But that all ended a long time ago, when my momma
told me no.
So here we are forty years later, sitting on the
couch watching The Bachelor, remembering what it's like to be a newlywed,
always getting kicked out of the house into the
shed, For the
actions I did and the words I said. Sleeping on the couch instead of the bed. Oh the memories, happy and sad; the choices I've
made, the good and bad.
This is my life and I'm glad, here I am, a loving
dad. It's been several years since I’ve seen my own
pops,
but at least the good ole Lord sent him to the top. I’ve
learned my lessons easy and hard, living life as a mystery card. This is my life, the ups and downs, life as we know
it, knows no bounds.
