The Dear Simple Days of Childhood

Fireflies, wishing stars, dandelion fluff,

Mud puddles, puppy dogs, boxes full of stuff.

Picnics, camping, the old swimming hole,

Monkey bars, swings, sliding down a pole.

Baby dolls, faery tales, imaginary friends,

Make-believe, daisy chains, laughter never ends.

Clover rings, day dreams, making mud pies.

Robins, wiggly worms, sweet lullabies.

Birthdays, cake, kisses and hugs,

Building blocks, jump ropes, fascinating bugs.

Crayons, silly songs, favorite nursery rhymes,

Baseball, fishing, late summer bedtimes.

Fluffy clouds, rainbows, cute cuddly kittens,

Snowballs, cocoa, warm fuzzy mittens.

Tea parties, sleep-overs, playing dress-up,

Teddy bears, hair bows, Mommy's make-up.

Grandma's cookies, story books, watching cartoons,

The mall, ice cream, special cereal spoons.

Car rides, the library, favorite stuffed dog,

Bicycles, Big Bird, Kermit the Frog.

Blue jeans, sneakers, the first day of school,

Caramel apples, bonfires, fun at the pool.

Red plaid, Mary Janes, jumping in the leaves,

Picture books, crisp days, wearing long sleeves.

Bubble baths, rubber ducks, soft baby powder,

Fireworks, Christmas, a warm comforter.

Rag dolls, kitchen sets, fun playing house,

Princess clothes, sunshine, favorite Sunday blouse.

Sandboxes, tree forts, mud between your toes,

Field trips, bird nests, freckles on your nose.

Snow angels, finger paints, lots of sidewalk chalk,

Rock collections, sea shells, a long nature walk.

Doll house, tag, climbing up trees,

Cart-wheels, valentines, running in the breeze.

Marshmallows, snowmen, fall hay rides,

Costume parties, firetrucks, sandy seasides........

 

The memories and childhood dreams,

run on and on in silver streams.

I love this! How I wish sometimes I can go back and be a child! I did and liked almost everything you mentioned! My grandmothers cookies are the best! I miss making them with her! This is wonderful!
