Welcome To My Home, I Thought You'd Never Come

Welcome To My Home, I Thought You'd Never Come

A Poem by Jade
"

Where do you come from?

"

Where am I from?

I’ll tell you where I’m from.

I’m from the sidewalks and pavement of the big city.

The rolling hills of a small town.

The air we breathe,

The sky we see,

And the world we live in.

I am from the pen and paper,

The words that make a statement.

I am from the right to write,

For the pen is mightier than the sword.

The ink-laden pages of the past.

The stories well known

And the stories untold.

I am from the smell of candles lit

And the warmth of a fire burning bright.

I live a life consumed with love and feeling.

I live a life piled high with family and friendship.

And I hopefully lead a life that others will follow.

Where am I from?

I am from the people.

I am from the strength and determination

And the will to live.

And to speak our minds.

I am from something bigger than us.

We are from something bigger, greater than us.

And we all are of something bigger and better than we realize.

If you want to be remembered,

You must make a statement

And do something worthy of being remembered.

Because the earth,

The sky,

The air,

And the hearts of others is our home.

I think if I were to sum up the feeling in this piece, I would say, "Hope's Heart"
You create an etherial dream like state of emotion with this words for me. It's a woven honesty and truth that is at the same time unable to be solid or real in the world of concrete man. They are words that can give people hope in dark times, give people strength when they feel weak... inspirational, that it is.
I really enjoyed the last six lines. For me it says the same as, "We are the sum of everyone elses observations."
It's a good powerful ending to a well woven tapestry of ink.

Very much enjoyed reading the piece.

I Love it... It reads a bit like a page from a diary of sorts, but I live where YOU live, so this is quite endearing and personal to read someone I really Love to read a few times a week, and to feel the familiar tone of my surroundings where we live. ; ) I never really think of commenting, since taking my poetry down and "un-publishing" it. Something, got me to write today on your poems.... 4/12/13 Thank You for being one of the coolest chicks on here I get to enjoy in poem and honesty that is almost not even present on other poet's pages for me. Great job.... ALWAYS. Beautiful Jade....
