About the massacre at the elementary school in Newtown. This is kind of a poem and kind of a rant about my feelings. I marked the genre horror because the massacre was a horror.

12/14/12

Tragedy.
That's is the only word to explain what took place today.
Tragedy.
All these kids,
They just were at school
Not one of them expected that many lives would be lost,
That they were in danger.
This makes me sick.

No one,
Not anyone
should send their kid off and be worried, scared
scared for their children's lives.
They shouldn't have to kiss their kid goodbye,
and think
"Is this the last time?"
And no one,
Ever,
Should not think that
and send their kid off,
Then later hear the cries,
hear the news that your precious
was killed.
Gone.

There is a lack of words for this event.
Tragedy.
People should not try to give this a name.
Tag it and file it away with all the others.
This shouldn't be one of many.
So let us,
let us have this be what it is.
Unnamed. A sick action,
By a sick person,
In a sick world.

Many lives were lost today,
and that will never change.
But we can prevent this from happening again.
Don't let children,
And parents,
And societies,
live in fear.

I've said what I have to say,
And that is quite a lot,
But this day can be summed up in one word:
Tragedy.
