The Woods Who Stole

The Woods Who Stole

A Poem by Kay Ann
"

I went to the woods so that I would not die and come to discover I had not lived

"
The sun creeps up my back warming not only my skin but my very soul. I begin, for a fleeting second, to fear the woods surrounding, for a piece of my heart they stole. But then I realize, when I was alone and truly afraid, the comfort of the animal chatter and rolling hills stood still as they do now. They did not steal! On the contrary, they have made me whole.
