nails

A Poem by Jacqueline Murray
"

6 June 2013

"
the quotidian back and forth--
skin and nails

they plunge--
a quick penetration:
thorough and clean--
and drag slowly in a
downwards motion,

halving veins and
ripping fibers of flesh apart
in opposing directions:

undoing stitches

as if a needle
unthreading threads with precision and--
isn't it funny--
sewing them back up again when pulled
in the other direction and
presented with a string

Relentlessly repeating the fever returns on schedule and all beginnings and endings begin and end, again.

I really enjoyed the imagery and flow here. Good work :)
