If You Knew Me Now - '18

A couple going through a rough time. His demons cause pushes her away. He regrets losing his angel and if she knew him now, than there could be a second chance.

If you knew me now,

you'd see I've turned around,

and for better or worse,

you were nowhere to be found,

I've been through the hurt,

hell and back again,

not who I was then,

praying before the sin,

to find the ugly truth,

darkness is the best of me,

so unpredictable it's crazy,

you're gone ain't no comin back,

gonna have to accept that,

reaching for the wide open sky,

with my feet on the ground,

if you knew me now,

　

I've said all I could,

tried and tried and tried,

to convince you we are good,

foolin myself into another lie,

no matter what we've done,

you may want to forget,

I'll never be able to forgive,

　

I am alright,

don't you worry bout me,

if you change your mind,

you'll know where I will be,

a place where the grass is green,

relaxing along the cool breeze,

living with a stable inner peace,

and in my heart you will find,

true love never dies,

I loved this! The rhythm of the poem was really good. It sort of put me at ease, like a calm wave. What I got out of it was a tragic love story, which is always something that's easy for others to connect to. Really well done!
