Be Cautious of Forces Beyond Your Control

Be Cautious of Forces Beyond Your Control

A Poem by Jacob Brine

When I was little

I had a hamster

One week we went on vacation

And I made sure to give it all the food

It could ever need

And enough water to drown a cat

We came home a week later

My hamster was dead

Crushed by a giant magnet

My dad had placed

on the top of the cage door

Which collapsed under the weight

And crushed my hamster

Hopefully

While he slept
