Charlotte DymondA Poem by GypojacobI recently went to Cornwall and heard a little story about the ghost of Charlotte Dymond. It turns out she is dissapearing with time. This is a first person narrative from a mortal man who has fallen in love with her. It is still a first draft, scribbledI see you crouching by the stream I here you laughing in my head My love for you would burn so bright If you were to leave me for dead.
Remember when we walked alone? On Bodmin Heath we'd speak no word Lost you amongst the ancient stones My life is but a test for you.
I gazed on your immortal eyes On lonely peaks you touched my skin I know the river's where you sleep I know that you will let me in.
And though I've never kissed your face And though I've not yet seen your bed If only they had murdered me. I'll stand by you when I am dead. © 2008 Gypojacob |
