Over It

Over It

A Poem by Jaclyn
"

This is for a contest...how you get over a broken heart...

"
They told me to ignore you,
That distance would make it right,
But I couldn't let you go that easy,
Not without a fight.
I knew that you were toxic,
And for me you were exceptionally bad,
Still I couldn't free you from my grasp;
You were the best I'd ever had.
You disappeared one day,
And your absence sliced my heart and marred,
But time has healed that gaping wound;
I can't remember why I am scarred.
I found another one to love,
For whom my heart beats strong and true,
And while I'll never forget our days together,
I realize I'm finally over you.

I like it and even though it doesn't ever feel like it, time does heal. Even without realization. Wonderful write, as usual and I wish you the best of luck!
