The Split Lip Mascarade

The Split Lip Mascarade

A Poem by Jacky Bones

All I ever wanted

was you to look at me like you once did

When your body laid next to mine

between the sky and the bed

On my knees praying to porsiline gods

Whom crack too ravens roses

I spent too many hours trying too keep

my eyes from closing and I'm crying

trying too pry them open on the inside

How could I say anything

When I cant even feel

you breathe?

How can you rescue me

When from your memories I fade?

I once held love

It was a thread that corsed through my veins

A thread of love, rust in my arms

These hollow halls hold secrets

but do you even care

If I bleed insects?

You cut me like you cut your hair

do I even care?

do you like it?

 can I tell?

can you tell me?

cause the wait is killing us

And if tomorrow calls

I'll say I was too busy braking hearts to

enbrace yours

Pictures smeard with your fingertips

Stain glass colord by your lipstick

Dressing up with a split lip

When you look in my eyes who do you see

Cause I've changed them a million times

I'll wait for your reply

by stuffingf myself under my pillow

just for the record

You had me at "Hello"
