You Saved Me

My stress decided to take over me tonight
I slid to the floor, not wanting to fight
The tears came down like a razor blade
Sitting in the darkness, I wanted to fade

 

The pain in my life, decided to try to kill me today
As I look at myself in the mirror I know I’m not ok
Searching my heart for a bit of hope
Finding none, I know I can’t cope

 

Lifting that knife to my throat wanting to end it all
I was born and lived; it’s a life that took a bad fall
But then an image flashes through my mind
I can’t place it, what is my brain trying to find

 

Then it comes clear, its you telling me you love me
Is it just an illusion of hope…how can it be
Your face plays in my head, not wanting to leave
Stopping to make me think, do I want to believe

 

But then I get messages, comments and calls
Is there something to stop me , like a huge solid wall
The answer is yes, it’s something called love and trust
You showed it to me and gave me a chance, I guess I must

 

So, I’m here today, loving and being loved because of you
I’m so grateful to you, u know I love you to
You showed me an open door and let me have  a try
That is why I’m here today, cause you didn’t want me to cry

I like this, I like the story it tells, and I love the imagery it gives me. It flows nicely, very smooth might I add. The rhyme is constant, which is always a very good things, and I love how it's different from most of the poems I've read that had anything to do with or mentioning suicide because in this lovely piece of writing, the suicide is stopped. Bravo, very well written.

The only thing I didn't like was that you used "u" as a replacement for "you" in the last stanza, and you left an O out of "too" in that same one.

But that doesn't take anything away from the poem, I'm just a literature nut =|
