Pain In Their Eyes

Pain In Their Eyes

A Poem by Jackie Mckeen

A little girl is born today and cries out for love
But all she gets is a glare and silence from someone above
She looks at this person and screams out for someone with a smile
But all she gets is a slap on the face, as they look at her file

A little girl of four years old  stumbles by the door
Blood running down her forehead, she cries out as she hits the floor
No one there to help her up, no one there to take the pain away
Lying there trying to get up, but she is to weak to move that day

A little boy is born today and cries out to be loved
But all he gets is someone shouting at him as he gets shoved
His innocent eyes search for a bit hope, it all seemed so dim
Pushed around and unloved he cries for someone to hold him

A boy drags his feet on the floor, holding his head
Pain shooting through his body, he heads for his little bed
Lying down tears wetting his little cheeks as he cries
abused and used he is alone, as his only hope dies

A teenage girl and boy giving up today, as they are hurt another time
there faces show no feelings, like a black and white mime
Their hearts are shattered into so many pieces, they can't pick them up anymore
walking around not wanting to live, their hearts are so sore

A guy and girl meet today, looking at each other they see a reflection
Talking about the pains and heartaches, their feelings they breifly mention
Feeling something they thought was dead, they stare at each others eyes
Wanting it to be true they don't press it to much, they've lived so many lies

The girl sitting there missing him, a frown across her lips
Wanting to hold him and be held by him plays in her mind as her heart rips
Knowing she needs him by her side a tear falls down her cheek
Wondering if he cares for her, his love is what she seeks

This is obviously and important subject and you wrote it in depth. It was hard to read. Like commercials for abuse that are so direct they make one flinch, perhaps missing the important message.

The writing is good...telling facts. It was just a bit overwhelming.
