HopeA Poem by JackieSomething maybe a little different from the way I am use to writing. I usually use to writing mostly in rhyme. but in this exact moment I wasn't so focused on that as I was just pouring out how I feltHow could you let this go on How could you walk by unalarmed Not affected yet well aware How is it that you care While there is violence all around us Your once sacred place in ruin you're so called children desecrate and feel unashamed. Are you ashamed Or do you feel the same And yet I carry so much hope. I withhold such high expectations How long will you keep us waiting Because I feel as if we are forsaken If it is truly up to us why would you wait for us. why would you wait after all that we have done Centuries and centuries of the same acts Is it even a question. are we doomed to follow the same aggression? It seems like it becomes some sick obsession Our state of mind has never changed The slightest thought hasn't even been pondered I still to this day hope for clarity. Something inside of us to overcome this foolishness. No we cannot change the past There is nothing existent to erase our mistakes, nor the choices that we have made . but if we could only start over. if only there were a light to guide the way Jackie Gunnin May 3rd, 2017
