I'm Only Your Friend...

This is for everyone and no one :-/

 

I always find myself intoxicated by your keen, sassy smile.

I realize we're "just friends," but I'd like to stay a little while.

If only you knew the dreams I entertain with you in my head.

If only you knew what I think of you alone, at night, in my bed.

It's sad that our reality does not permit expressing all of my feelings.

It's so painful I can't be "the one" at your side in all of life's dealings.

I'm only your friend... I bite my lip -- almost slip -- I so want to say more.

I'm only your friend... I choke on the truth : "baby, it's you -- you I adore."

Just a simple poem I hope others can relate to. This is experimental in nature, so ignore slight inconsistencies in flow.

Ahhh- very easy to relate too. I suppose it has happened to us all!
I loved the rhythm in this, quick, upbeat, and you did well with the rhyme.
Perhaps it would have been a bit smoother if you had watched the length of each line a bit? I found myself tripping over it while reading it when a beat was missed in the wording.
Besides that however, wonderful poem that wouldn't be difficult for anyone to relate to!

oh how cute, this is so sweet. Gosh have you tried talking to your "friend?" Sweep her off her feet and then "friends" will go out the window, but you really gotta be classy and suave like Zorro to ditch the friend label.
