Those Pink Flip FlopsA Poem by Jack The RabbitMaking a connection about people's nature via my impression of a pair of flip flops.
She was dark.
Her clothes, her hair, her make-up. Her eyes were a gypsy brown but her skin was the color of ivory. Black necklaces cascaded from around her neck and earrings studded her lobes with dark punctuation. Black tights hugged her legs and her skin was barely visible, caught only in glimpses when clothing moved. The motif breaker, the one thing that didn't belong perfectly, was her shoes. Bright, vibrant pink. Lines of rubber cradled her foot and disappeared between her black polished toes, proclaiming their clash with the color-eating darkness. These shoes, worn down by excessive use, forced an innocent persona to coexist with a darker nature, portraying the soul of every human being that drew in breath. Or maybe I was reading too much into it. Still, in that moment, there was nothing I loved more than those pink shoes. © 2010 Jack The RabbitAuthor's Note
