Chapter 8: Busted

Jack must now escape

I moved my eyes left and right, something should have happened right? “No, why are you asking me that?” Ashley stepped back “What?” Her face went from victory to defeat in a matter of seconds, horrid at what is in front of her. “How did my power not affect you?” While she was in a state of shock, I quickly ran past her, at this point I don’t care what they see, they know too much about me, I must escape and disappear. I ran as fast as I could out the mall, back into the street, it was nighttime now, the sky was black compare to the skylight in the city. I got find the nearest door, as soon as I do, escape is inevitable.

I ran back to an alleyway hoping to find a door at the end of the tunnel, someone dropped down to the ground from above and landed ahead of me, I stopped dead in my tracks and booked for the other side, someone else blocks my way, both wearing a silver suit, one green, one brown. Two more showed up on each side, one pink, one purple. I’m surrounded, with no chance to escape. “Jack!” Rosco with his brown suit stepped forward and presented himself. “What did you do to that girl back there? They’re still trying to keep their identities hidden, they must think I’m dumb or something. “Nothing, I swear. She asked me something while flexing her eyes and I said no.” The whole group gasp at my confession.

“Captain!” Another one drops down to our little gathering, this one is light blue. “That guy can’t be affected by powers, we have to stop him.” The purple one agreed with her, everyone’s gazes turns towards me. “Just because your power doesn’t affect me doesn’t mean I’m an enemy Ashley” Ashley is taken back by my accusation, “How did you know my name Jack?” Really now, it should be obvious why. Rosco moved in a blink of an eye and was behind me, he followed up with a punch. With my quick reflexes, I dodged away from it, Lilly jumped in to support Rosco, I dodged her punch as well, the ground shocked and cracked at the sound on the impact, stumbling me to the ground.

Rosco quickly jumped at the chance to land another attack, before he could, I jumped to great height to the rooftop of the building leaving those below me. “After him!” I quickly pulled out my key and headed for the rooftop door, I put my key to the lock and twisted it, the door responds with a glow and it opened, the light was bright, but it was my only escape, Seeing the others barley making to the rooftop, I pulled out the key and closed the door behind me.

I popped out the door and landed to a room on my head. A wave of exhaustion hit me, and some quiet.  I got back up to sit there on the floor. I recognize the floor of this room, I looked around to see that this was Emily’s room, why did I end up here? My questions running through my head about what just happen, but one thing I’m sure of now, I can’t go back to my ‘normal life’ anymore. The moment I get back to that school, they’re just going to surround me again. My job just got a whole lot harder.

This room started it all, my discovery began here and turns to me being known as an enemy. I decided to stop lollygagging and get a move on, if I stay here any longer, it’s going to be lights out for me. I walked out of the room to the front door, before I could reach the doorknob, my body grew very weak, my arms became heavy and my legs were shaking like wet noodles, great just great, I used to much energy, I need some food again, I burned it so quickly. My face banged against the door, leaving my body to follow.
