Logic

Logic

A Poem by Jacob Nimble

That which I was taught perhaps is wrong

“incorruptible” logic is questionably so

I find it far more likely that I question everything,

however,

as opposed to the concept that a

basic

step-by-step

process is wrong

it’s not like logic takes a flying leap

it just takes things you know

or think you know

and it assembles them into a...

more manageable

form

if that’s the case

it wouldn’t be wrong

so long as you have all your facts straight

but so often facts are hard to come by

and assumptions are required to move on

can two things

both nonexistent

interact, for instance

or would they pass by on separate spheres?

spheres like crystal

holding up the sun?

the stars?

the planets?

like Ptolemy wrote so long ago

another working with “logic”

and look how wrong he was

from one small piece of misinformation.

I’m lucky, then, that I can request revisions of my logic.

Proofreads of my concepts, if you will

if you won’t, though, that’s fine too

it’s your prerogative, after all
