Seastone and ShadowA Poem by Jacob NimbleI stand on a platform out here in the sea and all around the dance goes without me but I dance on the rock to my own special tune and I dance without malice or room Please, won’t you come dance with me? out here on this rocky platform in the sea? Please, won’t you come dance with me? for standing out here is so very lonely. I stand in the darkness out here in the light and ev-er-ry day I wish it were night but I cry in the darkness without any cares and no worries of others blank stares Please, won’t you come stand with me? out here in the darkness where no-one can see? I don’t know how to let you in maybe it’s best if we never begin please, won’t you come dance with me? out here on this rocky platform in the sea. Please, won’t you come cry with me for peace of mind rests in the dark of the sea. Every day, the dance washes away my footsteps the proof I was here and the waves roll along and the dance it goes on and the ocean get’s ever so near say, won’t you come stand with me? out here in the darkness where no-one can see? come, won’t you wave at the waves? and see how many people the dance this day saves there’s one thing I promise without any glee the dance? it will never save me it’s not much of a change it’s naught I couldn’t arrange but it’s meaningless here on this rock in the sea while the dance and the waves roll on beside me© 2016 Jacob Nimble |
