Silence

Silence

A Poem by Jacob Nimble

silence is a graceless fraud

coming when I need it to leave

leaving when I want it most

an arbitrary fiend

it steals in through doorways

windows

graves

and kills the people that it saves

burns the dull coals in my head

to a flaring

raging

red

and when it leaves me, for another

the noise in it’s place hurts twice

nothing I want to hear

nowhere I have left

to hear the thoughts I want to hear

NO LAST VESTIGE

for my shattered sanity

no place here inside of me

it all burns my mind in two

in two

in two

‘till everything around there are a billion thoughts and voices

then it coalesced

into a single point

my own black-hole

and all was vacuum

and nobody could hear me scream

and I couldn’t hear them

for one tantalizing moment I was free

and then

I was back in the noise and the light

my personal heaven over

my hell returned

and the shattering begins

again
