Worth the Taking.

Worth the Taking.

A Poem by Jacob Nimble

do you think a shattered hearts worth faking?

does a hollow heart continue breaking?

is there a thing that’s lost that’s worth the taking?

how does my broken heart keep me from shaking?

how can you prove that you’re worth the risk

when the cold chill proves just a touch too brisk?

Runnin’ round I’m

losin’ time

losin’ touch

and peace of mind

I raise my voice

make my word my bind

I won’t give up

I will not quit

I will not fail

while there’s still a chance

I might not win

I might not laugh

but I assure

there’s no second glance

for second place

in these human’s race

I won’t give up

I will not quit

I will not fail

while there’s still a chance

if you say yes

there’s nothing left

getting in my way

‘cept for reasons not to play

I have my reasons

my regrets

I’ve got my poison

chose it well

and so I live

in darker days

pretending that I live in hell

nothing feels so swell

nothing feels so swell

there’s poison in my bone and blood

there’s time and trials

dirt and mud

but on my word and on my wit

I

will

not

quit

so kindly please

believe in me

please remove

your fears

know that on my gravest day I am still brave

I wish you luck.
