Punishment

Punishment

A Poem by Jack Necron (Aubrey Jack Peaslee)

This city’s foundation collapses at the knees
Tears raining down from the rooftops, it openly weeps
Venom corrodes the sewer veins below
Cancerous tar dripping from a heart wretchedly hollow.

Welcome to the storied “metropolis of dreams”
Used and abused until it’s strings fumble at the seams
Smothered by cretins until it’s unable to breathe
But I’ve given them revelations to fear my streets.

Misdeeds lock and keyed like journals
Hidden in drawers, tucked under pillows
You may get away with them before the sun falters
But once darkness rises so do I, a night predator.

He’d batter her face until it ceaselessly bled
I ensure he doesn’t continue to be a victimizer
He struck her with a backhand
I obliterated him with judgment’s hammer.

A drug peddler seduced others with his wares
I’d see young kids sign death sentences over there
Moths to the flame, lives left in disrepair
Extinguishing it, I branded his skin with the fate they share.

A black widow began to weave webs
Ensnaring flies with her alluring beauty
Those who fell for her paid a heavy debt
I took away her weapon of lustful sensuality.

Defaming, using others to forge a throne of gold
Within a high-rise sat a corporation of greed
They would come to reap the seeds they had sown
Nobody escaped as money burned around them in a frenzy.

Whispers of my name echo fearfully
Paranoia grips the dregs hiding within alleys
The psychos, the sadists, the assaulters
Tremble from a justice that does not falter.

My family was ripped away from me
I went with them; look in my eyes and you’ll see
Born again, I swore it would happen to another never
Frank Castle is dead; call me The Punisher.

Author's Note

Jack Necron (Aubrey Jack Peaslee)
My friends jokingly nicknamed me The Punisher since I am a fan of the character and have a lot of clothes featuring his logo. I guess that's where the inspiration for this came from.

Not a bad role model to have at all Jack. The influence of the comic character is quite obvious but the undercurrent is deep and personal.
I really get the 'don't f*ck with me and I won't f*ck with you vibe off this.
I think your friends see more than just the clothes of this guy on you/in you.
Cool write Jack.!

Not knowing the comic book character I reflected more on the injustices you mentioned in this. It would be great if all were erased forever. Valentine

That's a statement that is both true and I agree with. There's too much injustice in the world today.. read more
