Through a hallway dark Devoid of all light I see where the antimatter hath left its mark All I have is myself, not another soul in sight.
Within these mirrors the memories do cometh Visions of a life no more For I am Jacob and this is my ladder To a palace in the clouds where wings soar Or a wasteland of festering damnation Captured within a jar promising peace or terror.
Were it all a life of sin? Or a life of virtue? For every yang there is a yin All that is good hath the potential for evil.
I ponder what shall become of me What will ye judge upon thee? Gripped by fear as I recite this rhyme A still frame in the corridors of time.
All my deeds laid bare From childhood to life’s twilight All my errors shown there I beseech an answer upon deaf ears If thou are locked away in Purgatory You have naught but unheard prayers.
Reincarnation, yet another possibility Return as another being in the cycle Unless found ultimately guilty Left here until thy soul be stifled.
I have to squint upon this coming sight Shattering through the everlasting night A comforting glow, a sense of everything being alright The next world has extended an invite.
Though anxious, I must step forward Or else remain a wraith to haunt the living Will I go to a haven that is cloistered? A lifetime of now lost moments Breaking away into fragments When I become enveloped in the light.
We bear no knowledge of what lies next Will ye fight it or will thee go? In eternity’s library our souls shall be recorded Whilst our time here becomes a faint echo.
Suggestion: "naught" means "nothing"; change to "not another soul in sight" or "naught in sight" to make grammatically correct.
I wonder if this is what our first bit of the afterlife will be? Stuck in a hallway reliving our best and worst moments and wondering if we'll stay here forever or go on? Waiting on judgment, if that's really a thing. Kind of spooky, I won't lie; I shudder to think about some of my past deeds, but I hope I can reconcile throughout the rest of my life

I have wondered about it as well and what might happen to us on the other side. I'm fascinated with the theories and ideas behind it. I can't say much, I haven't made the best decisions in the past but I've tried to learn from them and grow.
Jack for some one so young you are really gifted as a writer. Keep them coming. Valentine

Again you tackle the meaty themes here. Our final reckoning.
Love the 'haven cloistered ' phrase - it recalls many visits to the local monastery to confession.
Sterling work Jack.

In the final days my friend accepted Catholic last rites. I was bequeathed his books when he died. I was shocked to find a lot of books on the afterlife. I have yet to read them.
Your welcome Jack.
