Patient Kind Love

Patient Kind Love

A Poem by Jack Carver

What does it profit if I do not have love
Should I give up all that I have to give
And even surrender my body to be burned like a dove
That I may but have the chance for my soul to live
May I rejoice not of wrongs that have been done
But with the truth that defeats all enemies
And bear up under anything as one
Or believe in faith without amenities
And give up hoping for the best for you
Or endure anything if nothing drives me on
And only know the end of things is true
Until my will is finished and I am gone
These three abide in me, love, faith and hope
With love the greatest of them for it fills my scope.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on it's own way; it is not irritable or resentful. Corinthians I 13:4-5
