John's Death

John's Death

A Poem by Jack Carver

He went to a man who realized that men
Were to be masters of spirits controlling them
That they are even to be judged  by them then
And that each has a horn they wear like a diadem

He also realized spirits struck them with fear
And legends propagated by gullible man
That those who would then judge them would hear
And run rather than try them though that they can

And others were so kind they fooled them to gain
The inside track in the race so they would forgive
But the Angel of Death retired for the constant pain
For he wishes each one would not die but also live

Now there comes an advanced human that doesn't fit in
And he has the power of a God without
But he is to take the dead to their end for their sin
It is his lot for he was a prophet no doubt

And he came to that man that didn't realize that
Some things had changed and the human was not a man
Or a God--what he did was take them to hell like a rat
That feeds on the dead does  them no harm in his plan

And he came for the man a short time after he died
According to God who saw no other way
For he was dead in spirit He had to decide
For he said in his mind, "I'm like their Jesus this day,'

Though you are not saved and never will be I'm afraid,"
Said John to the man, "For you thought you're God,
And will never change your mind. Your decision is made."
And he tried but he couldn't ask Him which he thought odd.

And John's Death took him to hell and he crossed the line
Where he stayed to await the lake of fire his sign.
