Four Visions

Four Visions

A Poem by Jack Carver

Four Visions

I was in the Beginning

In the vision

And Jesus was not the light

But was illumined

By the light

And there was much lightning

And God made it lightning

And I said to God,

“You do not make it lightning

You see the future

You know when it will nightning

And where the lightning

Will be.”

And he became

Very angry with me

And was about to destroy me

When Jesus stepped in

And offered some defense for me

So that God did not destroy me

Then there was in the darkness

Something more

Black than space

Like a shining rock

And I went and held the rock

They said was the Word

And it was very hot

Then I went to a corral

In the darkness

And I opened the gait

And a black horse

Escaped and it was my fault

And I went back to Jesus

And someone cried,

“The Devil’s horse

Is loosed.”

And I was much afraid

And when I went back

To Jesus and

A  pastel red

Angel was there

And he took me by the hand

And brought me high

And higher

And I asked him

Are you from God

And he let go

Of my hand

And I fell

And landed

Soaking wet

On my every part

And my bed was wet

Throughout

And I was much

Afrighted.

It might have been

A vision of an enemy

But, “You believe it.”

So in another vision I prayed

O God how is a man to love you

When he is scared to death of you?

And Jesus descended

In the darkness

And nearly reached me

But went back on high

As a stick thrown into water

That is not heavy enough

To go all the way

To the bottom

And I awoke

Much afraid for

Jesus had not reached me.

In my latest vision

I talked with God

And he became impatient

With what I had said

And he said,

“Let the Devil have him.”

But Jesus was there

And came to my defense

And God was appeased

But I was worried

For God had said.

“Let the Devil have him.”

But Jesus said to me,

“Grab my hand.”

So I did and he said,

“Hold fast to me

And I will bring you up

For no one shall sntach you

From my hand for I

Am in the Father

And nobody can snatch

You out of my Father’s hand.”
