Used To

Used To

A Poem by Joshua Carl Cruz

balcony waterfall puzzle love music paint laugh think
You used to laugh.
You used to love.
You used to paint.
You used to think you weren't proud but
now your puzzles tumbling down to
what sounds like a broken waterfall.
The sound of music echoes out
from the balcony where you used to
laugh and you used to think, where
you used to dance to the music, and you'd sing...
but, eventually everything can be found
tumbling down some broken waterfall.
You'd make everyone around
think you weren't run aground
or your soul wasn't sold for some
rocks found below a broken waterfall.
Why did you have to leave?
Your love just like mystery...
jagged, like a puzzle piece...
Why did you have to leave?
I used to laugh.
I used to sing.
I used to dance.
I used to mean something.
I used to be in love you.
