The DriverA Poem by Joshua Carl CruzShort poem inspired by the movie Drive starring Ryan Gosling
The Driver
The Neighbor The Man in Charge The Killer/Betrayer The Boy The Car The Greedy Mechanic The Father/Con Los Angeles Night An embroidered golden scorpion A satin jacket made of white The phone call beforehand Directions, Instructions Empty apartment The Toothpick, Map The basketball game Already at half The tricked out impala A watch on the dash Pick them up Drop them off 5 minutes Then, Blam! Panic Complications Augment The plan Reclusive, elusive Evasive maneuvers Choosing the stadium To waylay pursuers A dark baseball cap Worn as a dodge His liscence plate Remaining wholly at large. The Dinner The Meeting The Father, the con The wheels never falter But the Robbery went wrong Another Car Another Driver A race towards the finish The set up was met With some deadly intentions Headlong and sideways Down highways both cars Recklessly, dangerously Expertly charge On the outside Nowhere to go The Driver drove the other guy´s Car off of the road. Dispatching both hit men Inside the hotel Unwravelling, panicking Incalculable Hell Drive on The Decision to end it His Hammer insistent Revenge in a mask says it all.
