Addiction to You

Addiction to You

A Poem by SophiaWilde
"

A try at slam poetry

"
"Marlboro, Special Blend Gold Shorts,
one pack please."

Car doors crash,
lighters flash,
and the scent of tobacco surrounds me.

You speak, but I hear no words,
only see your mouth move,
spitting sentences as smoke surrounds us.

When i'm with you it's like i'm underwater,
I can't breathe, just hold my breath,
and wait to surface.

And all I need is to see that you're okay mom.

But you're no
And it's all I can do to try not to move
to your side
and breathe life back into
you.

But your tasteless addiction sucks it
away from you.

You've become withered and warped,
A shell of the woman you once were.

"Marlboro, Special Blend Gold Shorts,
one pack please."

There you go again, defend-ing your
nicotine as the cashier slides you the pack.

But i'm just as guilty as you,
Riding along and singing you the song of,
"oh, I just need a tea."

Trying to get drinks for free because i'm
piss poor and pouting, so I support your
filthy habit.

Have another smoke, this one's on me.

Mom, can't you see, what's killing you is
secretly killing me?
