Hollow

Hollow

Hollow

My heart calls

My heart begs

My heart cries to be with him

Everytime I look at him, It's as if I’m playing a game of catch

Just a simple second

A simple fraction

Of his gaze would do

Anything to let him know I exist

That I am alive

That I’m still in his line of vision

But whenever our eyes meet in the crowded halls

His gaze is empty

Hollow

Vacant

Desolate

As if I’m just apart of the wall behind me

It’s only in one class that he notices me

He laughs with me

He cracks jokes with me

He smiles

He looks into my eyes and they recognize me

It’s only in that one class that his eyes aren’t empty

They have a glimmer;

Something scheming

Something laughing

Something smiling

And I long to be with him

But there are

So

Many

Barriers

A barrier of words

A barrier of friends

A Barrier of status

But I still love him nonetheless

Regardless of status

Of friends

Of barriers

But what breaks me

What haunts me

What tears all emotions

is knowing that he’ll never feel the same about me
