That MomentA Poem by Spilt
Blood Sweat and
Lots and Lots of tears Poured into a performance Weeks and weeks of rehearsals missed dinners late nights snack deprived hours and lots and lots of spilt tea All leading up to this. very. moment The moment of glory The moment where you get to showcase your talents to the public The moment where the spotlight is gleaming so brightly on your face that you don't realize that you're even on stage That moment when you finally bow, signalling the end of the first performance Despite all of that I sometimes I ask myself Why do I do this to myself? Why do I stay till 9:00 on a school night With foundation caked on my face, sweat drenched through my clothes? Then I remember Its for that moment. That moment before the curtains open and the anticipation and anxiety buzzing through your entire body like a surge of electiricty That moment when you're rushing around for a quick change, giggling out of pure panic and emotions that are rushing through your brain That moment when you belt out on stage, not a care in the world about what anyone thinks Not caring what your family or friends are thinking about you That moment on stage with this beautiful cast-now a family - surrounding you as the audience roars in applause I'm not doing theater to impress anyone I'm doing it for myself All to achieve Those moments Its all for this feeling This feeling of the blinding spotlight All for that moment
