I have often wondered the same thing. Why do the good suffer so much while the bad lives in riches? I've always been the good girl, good in the eyes of others, myself, and God, yet it matters not my place in this world, but my place in the next. One thing a person needs to realize when in faith is that this, Earth is not the end for us. We have to be willing to accept that in the christian faith, or in the belief of God. I think that's a little selfish to desire a person to be here. They have to get to where they need to be while we also have to get where we need to be. We only have so much time here. The death of your friend should not make you lose faith, it should give you more appreciation that you have more time here on Earth. He is gone, and no amount of displeasure of God or life is going to bring him back. He is resting in peace in Heaven, a far better place than here.
In psalms 73, a man asked the very same thing you are talking about now. The evil prevail and the man wanted to lose his faith because of this realization, but it was answered that they shall perish. We must learn to view certain things universally instead of materialistically. I think you should read that scripture and you'll find what you're looking for.
As for the poem, it's really blunt. Trash, why pick this word? It seems more like a diary entry than a poem to me, but hey, that's my opinion. Maybe elaborate on certain lines, and connect them together so that it's not random.
we never know, God's life force is a constant discovery through our perception - it is believed by some no spirit dies - only the body decays - it is a comforting belief for me.
God gave us the ability to think and make choices for ourselves. Every time we make a mistake, God can't just come down and fix it because if he did that, then he would be a controlling God.
As time wore on and we, us humans, lost that closeness we had with him, he became more of an influence in our lives.
You are right, though we must accept his ways in the most troubled times. Craig is not right about one thing. God NEVER puts more on us than we can bare.
I read your note first and just ached for you and your dear ones... Yes, God is a mystery... and leaves life with such open ended questions.. ponderings with no solutions... and pain, sometimes beyond our ability to endure... With that being said, your last line reveals a secret.. we must accept even in the darkness.. only then can we ever find peace.
Sometimes bad things happen to good people and we don't understand why. We are told it is not up to us to question, but it is very hard, isn't it? Very well written Sweet JVL.
